Current U.S. Tariff Landscape
The U.S. tariff regime as of April 2026 is characterized by overlapping trade remedies and rapid regulatory change. Understanding these layers is critical for accurate duty calculations:
- Section 232 Metals: 50% on base steel articles, 25% on derivatives, 0% on products ≤15% metal content by weight, 15% on other metal products (Annex III)
- Section 122 Global Surcharge: 10% on all imports, effective February 24–July 24, 2026, with exemption categories for certain countries and products
- Section 301 China Tariffs: Four lists at varying rates (25%, 25%, 7.5%, 25%) targeting specific product categories
- Antidumping & Countervailing Duties: Active cases on imports from major trading partners with manufacturer-specific and country-specific rates
- Free Trade Agreements: Preferential duty rates available for qualifying products from Canada, Mexico, UK, Australia, CAFTA-DR, and other FTA partners
Always verify with CBP before finalizing entries. Tariff rates and exemptions change frequently. These tools provide guidance based on current official data, but you should consult a licensed customs broker for complex entries.
